Gillett Sno-Riders Poker Run 2010

On Saturday February 13th, the Gillett Sno-Riders held their 1st annual poker run. With the arrival of fresh snow that week, the trails were open and we saw over fifty people attending the poker run by snowmobile and vehicles. At the end of the run, 53 participants were registered with 24 participants completing all 12 stops on the poker run!

After all of the cards were dealt, Sue Mikle came out as the winner with the best poker hand. Jon Egge, Todd Rudie, Julie Rost, Mike Lambrecht and Roger Paholke rounded out the top 6 payout spots. The prize for lowest hand went to Don Egge. In addition to the prizes for the poker run we were also able to draw for 20 prizes for the participants that were all generously donated by participating businesses!

We would like to extend a thank you to the following that sponsored our run and donated prizes for the participants: The Barn Tavern, Blue Spruce, The Bull Pen, Circle B Bar & Grill, Downtown Charlie's, Club 32, Klaus Lake Bar, Rosie's Railway, Spirits of Gillett, Suring Lanes, Vollmar's Trailside, Wildfire Trails, and Kohls Family Farm-Curt Kohls. Thanks to Jeff Hertwig for providing the music that we all enjoyed that night and a special thanks to Jim & Cindy at Klaus Lake Bar for all of their help along the way and for putting on an excellent meal for everyone to enjoy!

Thank you to all of the participants who made our first event a success and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

The Bud Quade Bridge was renovated and dedicated in 1996. The bridge takes you over the Oconto River and is 535 feet long. The bridge was originally built in 1917 by the Chicago Bridge & Iron works and then purchased in 1982 from the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad. After being purchased it was made into a recreational trail. The bridge was featured in the 1928 Lon Chaney movie "Thunder Below".
